A SALUTE TO ALL FATHERS ON FATHER’S DAY
June 20th is Father’s Day this year, and I thought it might be a good day and a good way to celebrate our fathers as our heroes. I know I always think of my Dad as my hero, when I was a child and still today.
Perhaps you may have had a special grandfather, uncle, cousin, or a special friend that you thought of as a hero to you. June 20th would be a great day to let that person know that you think of them in this special way. Maybe your Dad or that other special person is no longer living, but you can still pause and think kindly of them as if they were.
My husband was a hero to me as well, because both my father and my husband always put their family first before anything, and were always protective, caring, and unselfish. I know I was very lucky to have had a father and a husband I was always thankful for and proud of.
Many people have not been as fortunate as I have been, and their childhood might have been less than pleasant. That’s why I mentioned a hero could be anyone in your life that you looked up to, and was always there for you. In these stressful times it is especially hard for the man of the house. So many men have lost their jobs, their properties and their incomes, and they worry about what the future will hold for their families. In many homes, the woman of the house has had to go to work to try and earn enough money to help pay the bills. This is very difficult for a man to endure, if he has been the main bread winner. However, today many women have succeeded in the workplace in their own careers. This has definitely helped family’s get by in these poor economical times.
But, because it will soon be Father’s Day, let’s show our Dad’s very special treatment that day, and tell him how much you love and care about him.
