SALUTE TO OUR HEROES-OUR ARMED FORCES
Today is Thursday, May 7, 2009, the National Day of Prayer in which we honor
our country, our President, and our officials, but we mustn’t forget all of our Armed
Forces that have been deployed and those who will be deployed soon from our National Guard to fight battles in Iraq 2, 800 from Oregon alone, and 650 from other
states.
We certainly hear about a special act of bravery one of our servicemen has done, now and then, but we don’t realize how every one of our troops in these countries, Iraq, Afghanistan, and Pakistan that are serving are putting their lives on the line. These brave men and women are risking their lives every day to help end these wars, and help the civilians there to not risk getting killed as well. They do what they are told following their orders, fighting long hours without rest or food and suffering from exhaustion at the end of each day.
To me, they all are heroes, and we should say a silent prayer for each one of them today, for their safety and their safe return home to their families. So many of them that have come home are suffering from severe injuries and mental and emotional trauma. These men and women also need our prayers for their safe recoveries. If they had not been there, we might be risking an attack from any one of these terrorist groups, and we would be the casualties.
So, I salute all of our US Troops. You are all heroes to me, and I will continue to pray for the soon return of all of our troops.
