Support Women Artists Now

Support Women Artists Now

On March 28th, 2009, a powerful unification took place.  A composition of some the finest women artists gathered for a global celebration.  One hundred and sixty United States locations along with eleven different countries held conference for one purpose, to recognize and support Women artists.  SWAN Support Women Artists Now is a yearly event that takes place the last Saturday of Women’s History Month and is growing with a full speed momentum empowering women artists though networking, and aiding in financial and creative support. Womenspeakonline was invited to share in the experience, and the energy that transpires in such a vast event is extremely uplifting.

The Portland Expo Center was a host for Writers, Painters, Poets, Actors, Singers all seasoned and marking their rise in their craft.  “I cannot believe the feeling that I have here today,” one participant shared, “I have goose bumps just thinking that this awesome event is going on in all different countries at the same time.”  This was a community grass roots event orchestrated by a group of dedicated organizers that rippled out across the seas. There was an open supportive exchange of information that took place, and a supportive view into each recipient’s talent and objectives.  I was moved at the amount of talent that each of the women I met possessed.

Many of them shared one common thread; the uncertain years that dominated their path until they awakened to their own abilities, and the amazing journey to self-discovery.  With that knowledge, comes the true message of the day, support the Artist within, guide young talent to flourish in what is their passion.  SWAN is a foreground to inspiring women’s perspectives and developing women artists to be recognized in their medium and to find prosperity.
