Connecting the Dots
Written by Sandra Scott Tabb
A friend of mine once told me how she connects the dots of her life. I asked her what she meant. “You know,” she said, “the dots are those experiences that serve as awakenings into new understandings or ones that open us to new possibilities. Learning what the original dot was and then connecting all the ones that follow. Ultimately, it is looking back and contemplating meanings and understandings from your perspective now, in this moment.”
Since the day my friend explained how to connect dots, I have been more conscious of those dots and connections in my life. Some would call them “ah ha” moments. Anyway, what keeps me ever on my journey is the realization that one new piece of information or experience may change my current enlightened perspective in an instant.
I must admit though, changing my perspective was once horribly scary for me. For example, I used to have definite beliefs about energy, health and God. As a result, I felt safe and resolved. I did what many of us do; I joined groups that shared my beliefs so that re-affirmation was always present. I loved to be told my thoughts and ideas were “right.” I shared in all the “right” beliefs and behaviors that were tidy, safe and secure. Happiness was mine as long as I stayed in these group consciousnesses.
Flying to Malta, an island off the coast of Sicily, seemed to be another
time I was engaging in-group consciousness, however, this group would
provide the beginning dot that catapulted me into an unfamiliar way of
thinking about energy and health.
When I arrived in Malta, I was, for lack of a better term, violently
ill. I had a temperature, could not keep any liquid or solid in my body,
my head was pounding, my muscles ached and rolling up in a ball and dying
sounded good to me. In my attempt to stay lucid, I considered drama.
What if I rolled my eyes to the back of my head and fainted? The horror
of the next thought brought me back to my misery. I was in a foreign
country whose hospital I saw on the way to the hotel; a stucco building
looking like an army barracks. No, I would find a better way to get well.
A friend of mine helped me check in to the hotel. Then after dragging
myself into the elevator, something quite miraculous happened. There
was a young man who observed my pasty white face and limp body. He asked
me if I wanted to feel healthy again. If I’d had the energy, I would
have smacked him. Of course, I wanted to feel better! Using the energy
I did have, I said “yes.”
“My mom is a Naturopathic Doctor,” he said. “But, she does not have a
license to practice here. What she did bring with her is a Quantum Biofeedback
Machine. Energetic medicine is the best way for your body to heal itself,”
he said. “Do you want me to have my mother call you?”
That question ignited my imagination; I let it run wild. During the next few moments, I saw a woman dressed in a witch doctor costume shocking me with sparks that came from the end of her spear, yelling “Get healthy or I’ll zap you again!” Looking up at the young man I saw the sincerity in his eyes, concern in his face, and felt the compassion riding the words that came from his heart. I thought, he is not the son of a witch doctor!! I gave him my room number and he promised his mother would call me.
Fifteen minutes latter, Dr. Sparks, (yes that is her real name) called to make an appointment. She told me she could not come to my room before 10:00 that evening. It seemed like an eternity away, but somehow just talking with her caused me to feel better. The last thing she said really confused me. She said, “I will send you healing energy now, which will start the healing process. Are you open to receiving this healing energy?” she asked. I had no form of reference to know what she was talking about, but before I could give the question serious consideration, the word “yes” escaped my lips.
That evening Dr. Sparks came to my room. She hooked me up; wrapping a strap around my forehead, wrists and ankles as she told me that shuttle energy coming from the Biofeedback Machine was going to balance and bring into harmony the stresses in my body. I was sick because something was causing an imbalance in my electromagnetic energy field, she explained. I lay back on the bed and closed my eyes as I felt different parts of my body responding to whatever it was that was coming from the machine.
More and more I felt relaxed and peaceful as if a dozen marching soldiers were being sent out of my body down through my feet into the ground. It felt like something gentler, yet more powerful was asking for my bio terrain to join with its energetic song as it resonated the harmony that would result in my health.
After two hours, the doctor left. I was barely conscious enough to say thank you. However, the next morning at about 7am, my eyes popped open. I scanned my body with my mind to feel any place where there was lingering pain or discomfort. There were none. I got up, took a shower, arrived down stairs at the restaurant where I ate a full breakfast, and then spent the remaining four days in conference. Not a hint of my former illness was present. I was thankful, excited and confused.
My healing smacked up against every belief I held about how to get well. So, I did something that I never thought in a million years I would do. Something that came from beyond what any group I was affiliated with would think was the “right” thing to do. After several more experiences, I bought a Quantum Biofeedback Machine. Not the last dot on my energetic journey, but an important one for me.
Getting ill and then energetically balanced were the first dots on my
energetic journey. Now I know that energy is used for more than plugging
into a socket in the wall to power appliances, or to find the number
of a cell phone and connect one user to another.
Over the last three years in training, so many beliefs about how energy
works within us and in our fields have formed. What I think I know now
is that there is no magic, but pure science, research and somewhat unexplainable
phenomenon that supports energetic balancing. It is all the stress in
life, be it financial, relational or viral that cause imbalance in our
biological systems.
I have named my company Tranzend Age. This name is a testimony to my own wellness journey; transformation in energy and healing beliefs in an age where allopathic medicine seems like our only choice for health, and to a zen way of relaxing and re-educating mind, body and spirit. Tranzending age also has another application, which is a balanced, stress free, system inside, informing and re-educating the face and neck muscles outside of its harmony. Therefore, the goal of looking and feeling younger is accomplished—a deeper form of anti-aging!!
