Advice – January 2010

Dear Sal,
Recently at work, in the employee cafeteria, a co-worker came from the restroom and sat down next to me at the table. I noticed that stuck in her nylon in the center of her leg was a wadded up piece of toilet paper. Obviously, she didn’t know it was there. I don’t know her very well and was embarrassed to tell her. When she was done with her lunch, she got up and walked away. I noticed a few others watching her as she went and shaking their heads. Should I have told her?

Dear uncomfortable observer,
You should have told her. If it is something that can be remedied, like something between the teeth, dragging toilet paper on a shoe, etc…Tell by all means. If it is a spot on a shirt or something that cannot be easily remedied, don’t say anything. And always remember, if the situation was reversed, would you want someone to tell you?
Sal
